36For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: ~Hebrews 10:36, NKJV~
In order to be patient, we need endurance; we need to endure…
Withstanding something without giving up
Going through a difficult situation without giving in
Lasting the battle until the end despite the trials and the tribulation in-between
For us, this means that at the sight of trouble, we should not be quick to run but instead, we should stand up in faith reminding ourselves that what we are about to go through is not in vain. The word of God here states if we complete the will of God, we will receive His promise but what does this mean for us who are patiently waiting?
a) Even in the midst of our trouble, our God stays the same yesterday, today and forever Read Hebrews 13:8 therefore, what He has asked of us has not changed; we are to continuing serving Him, glorifying Him, searching for Him and loving Him with our whole heart. Things will not make sense during this time but His promises still stand and we will see them in the end
b) During the testing of our faith and moments of hardships, we tend to make irrational decisions based on anxiety, emotions, pressure and bad/biased advice but here, God tells us that if during times of suffering, we do what He says, we are guaranteed to see His right hand work in our favour. God is able to see over the wall we stand before; He is able to see through the dark cloud hovering over us; He is able to create where there is nothing – if we can just listen to His guidance with our hearts, He will lead us through the trail, right through to the finish line and carry us over that barrier holding us back
For us who are patiently waiting, it means that no one said it will be easy and that hard times will completely miss us just because we are Christians, but with Christ who will strengthen us (Read Philippians 4:13), we will be able to stand up to the difficult times we face and we will be able to hold on until it is all over. As mentioned in part 4, we will grow stronger with greater courage as we overcome fear, pain and difficulties.
