As we come to close November 2016, UNFXP wishes to share what was learnt during the study of “newness” in this month. Despite there only being a few weeks left of 2016, and with the new year fast approaching, we have every reason to open our hearts and minds to greater things to come to pass, by being more expectant, hopeful and prayerful. I wish to make this post an easy read for you to follow and take own notes which will help restore lost hope in a brighter things to come.
Achieving Newness|Change Your Mentality; Decide You Want to be “New”; Walk in God’s Ways of Newness
~ Change the way you think
Focus on the positives so that you can teach and channel your mind to think optimistically. Change starts off in the mind; the mind thinks, the heart feels and the body does, so think correctly and you will bring about new change.
~ Be opened to learn
Humbly admit when you are wrong or when you do not understand so that others can enlighten you with new or different ways of dealing with situations.
~ Be Transparent
Be kind, selfless and pure towards others by living as Christ did
~ Ask for Help!
You are not expected to make changes immediately nor walk in a new light on your own ability; God has already shown us the way to be/go, we just ought to “put on” the new self and rely on His ways… ask for His help to stay on board.
“and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. ”
~ Decide on and Choose Newness
God will not force Himself into your life but the moment you make the decision you want to see change, and you invite Him in because you need Him for that, He will do the rest and guide you through the journey
“that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts”
Achieving Newness|Forgive Yourself; Your Past No Longer Reigns; Accept Your New Ways
~ In Christ, You Are a New Creation
The things of your past will and can no longer matter in your new life because you are a new person. This also counts for old habits which you engaged in which will need to be replaced with new, edifying habits to encourage and motivate your new self and character(s).
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. “
~2 Corinthians 5:17~
~ Forgive Your Old Self
If God can accept you as you come and forgive you for your past, why are you punishing yourself for your old ways? Set yourself free and forgive the old you, and accept change.
~ Repent, Reflect and Replace
Pray and hand over to God your old ways with a genuine heart and He will wash away all of your past and do new things in you. Your past is unrecognisable once God clears your slate and redesigns you to be how He wants you to be as opposed to the way(s) your flesh led you to go.
Achieving Newness|New Heart full of Life; New Attitudes; Restoration, Repair and Recharge
~ New Heart
From the heart, we feel before we decide and if we can feel the urge to love, to care and show kindness to others, we will feel more inclined to do so. Where our hearts once hurt others, God will give us a new heart so that we no longer have a heart of stone (pain, rejection, anger) which refuses to serve and live in joy, and will give us a new soft heart full of life (purpose, fullness and love).
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”
~ Be Cleansed
To be washed from your old ways is an opportunity for a brand new start and to change your conduct, attitude and expression towards others. God cleansing you is Him removing dirt which you picked up from years of treating others wrongly, hurting others and even hurting yourself. He will fix what is broken, replace what has been lost and create where there is nothing so that you have the platform to be a better, greater person for Him and for others.
“Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean…”
Achieving Newness|Expect New Things to Come; Let Your Requests Be Known; Listen Out for God’s Answers
~ Pray, Expect and Wait
God will incline his ears to your cries and He will fulfil your hearts desires which are in line with His will but understand that God works on His time, not on yours, therefore you need to grow in patience which will produce faith.
“knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience”
~Stop and Listen!
Stop crying, worrying, doubting and living in fear of your prayers being ignored, disregarded or rejected otherwise your faith will shrivel up and you will begin to hide away from God. The Lord will hear and recognise your voice but you also need to spend time with Him to recognise His voice when He speaks and answers your prayers. He may not always come back with the “yes” you are waiting for but He always knows what is best for you; make sure you are listening!
~ The Morning Brings Good News
In the morning there is new hope of a new beginning so whatever you were concerned about yesterday is in God’s hands and He is taking care of it; all you need to worry about is how to use this new day to serve Him whilst He works on your request(s)
“My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.”
Achieving Newness|Stop Worrying; Trust in God’s Plans; Have Faith in God’s Promises
~ God Knows
Stop worrying, pondering and overthinking about your future; where you are unsure or unclear, God knows and has already planned it all. His plans for you have and were already in place because He knows the thoughts He thinks towards (for) you. In order to know and discover the plan, purpose or vision God has for you, you ought to build a relationship with Him so that you 1) know who you are in him, 2) understand how He works, and 3) recognise His voice and trust His directions.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
~ Believe You Will Prosper
God wants to prosper you and everything about you including your spiritual journey, growth and maturity, your health, career, finance, projects, family, friends, relationships, well-being, status… the list is endless! Evil doing is not in His plan for you so therefore it is not in your portion meaning that although failure, loss and disruption may come, it will not last because God’s plan for your life is greater than this, and final.
~ Believe Good Things are Coming
God wants you to expect good things to come as He has guaranteed your future; He does not give empty promises nor are His words said in vain. Trust that good things are on its ways and you will experience newness and change.
